Super Adventure Box 2018: we hardly knew ye

So after experiencing the Super Adventure Box for the first time last year, I was totally excited to see it come back!  You can read about that here: SAB2017: Doot's First Time.

Anyway, when the announcement came up, I was all excited: I posted about it, building my hype and trying to get some other involved in jumping into it!  See, I don't play the thing for anything other than fun: I'm not trying to earn any of the crazy skins or really hard to get auras or anything.  I just play it for fun & I was totally looking forward to getting in again and just going through it a relaxing, leisurely pace.  So, I proceeded to drum up hype and hopefully interest...

Posted this the day before the announcment with an ominous, "It's coming..."

After a few discussions and directing people over to last year's post about it, I thought, "Yay!  I have people who wanna experience this with me, for fun!"  I immediately logged in that day to get ready for the SAB adventure I was sure to have.  I started by sitting on the SAB itself, Snoopy-style.

I even announced I was waiting to anyone that would listen...

But, I really couldn't stand NOT going in.  I just had to!  The music... The colors.  This place screams DOOT!

All the wonderful colors and the sky is sooooo blue.

The little houses and the paved road is so cute!

I sat amongst the pixelated flowers, taking in the simplistic beauty of this 8-bit world.  Surely my compatriots would arrive at some point.

As I sat, a number of creatures went by.  I watched them for a while.  They were so cute.  I couldn't wait to get into the adventure and hunt them down with a little stick!  Just as soon as my buddies arrived...

Then there was a race!  A new race in the Super Adventure Box!!!

I lined up and began the journey.  About 1/2 way through something incredible happens: you are turned into a doggyfaced-bumble-bee!!!  And at this point, I did what anyone would do... I just stopped racing and flew around taking pictures.  (That's what everyone does right?) :P

I accidentally looked at the sun, and like a Icarus, I was burned.

Don't go toward the light, Doot!!!

Don't look directly at the sun, Doot!!!

And then I was reset. :(

So, I sat again, awaiting any friends, guild mates, random passers-by... anyone.  And... nobody came.

After the 10th time I watched these little critters pass me, I joined in and recorded it...

So, after all this hype, excitement, and build-up, I was left wandering around the SAB hub by myself.  I could have done it alone, but where's the fun in that?  I could have championed more for people to join in, or even found a little pick-up-group or something.  But I guess the wind was kinda taken from my sails.

I even attempted to shut the whole thing down:
"Imma just hit this power off button right here..."

And before I knew it, the SAB for 2018 had ended.  Rather than be sad or upset about not ever doing it, I did have a good time (even if it was just by myself).  The pictures above and the cute video I made are proof of that.  Even if it's bittersweet, I enjoyed listening to the 8-bit music and flying around a dog-bee.  Furthermore, I get to post about my sad, lonely, yet fun experience here.  And when it's all said-and-done, having fun is what it's all about!

"I'll see ya next year, SAB... If you're lucky!"  :P
